If your employees have a medical emergency they should go to the nearest hospital emergency room (ER) or call 911. The emergency room is the best place to treat your employees for life-threatening health issues such as:

• Chest pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Stroke
• Head trauma
• Severe bleeding
• Loss of vision

Important things to know:

• If your employees need to be admitted, their doctor or the hospital must get pre-authorization first. If it’s an emergency, the hospital must get approval within 24 hours.
• The Culinary Health Fund provides surgery benefits at many outpatient surgery centers. Your employees will not have to stay overnight if they have surgery at one of these centers. They can call Nevada Health Solutions at 702-216-1653 for more information.

How much will it cost my employees?

There’s a $350 copay for an in-network hospital emergency room visit.

Which hospitals can my employees go to?

There are many hospitals in our network. Your employees should go to a hospital that’s in our network to avoid extra costs.

Should my employees go to the hospital if they don’t have an emergency but need care?

No. Hospitals are for life-threatening emergencies. If your employees go to a hospital ER for a non-life-threatening emergency, they’ll:

• pay more than they need to for their care.
• wait longer than they need to for their care.

If they’re not having an emergency, your employees should use one of these other options for care:

• Their regular doctor

  If they can wait, it’s best to see their regular doctor. Their doctor knows their medical history and can help follow up on their care.

• Urgent care

  There are many in-network urgent care centers that your employees can use. Some of them are open 24 hours. Follow this link to find an in-network urgent care center.
